Frequently Asked Questions
About WINTHELUXE
Is WINTHELUXE legal?
Yes. We operate as a skill-based prize competition under section 14(5) of the UK Gambling Act 2005. Entry requires a correct answer to a genuine skill question, which excludes a significant proportion of entrants from the draw. We do not hold, and are not required to hold, a gambling operating licence from the UK Gambling Commission.
Is this gambling?
No. Gambling involves paying to play a game of chance for a prize. Our competitions are decided partly by skill (the travel question you must answer correctly) and partly by draw among those who qualify. Legally, this is a prize competition, not gambling.
Who runs WINTHELUXE?
WINTHELUXE LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 17165386), with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ.
Entering a Competition
How do I enter?
Visit the competition page, select the number of tickets you want, answer the skill question correctly, and pay. You’ll receive your ticket numbers by email within minutes. Full walkthrough on our How to Play page.
How old do I have to be?
18 or over. You’ll be asked to confirm your date of birth at registration and we may verify this at any time, especially if you win.
Can I enter for free?
Yes. We offer a postal free entry route for every competition. Details and rules on our Free Entry Route page. Postal entrants compete on equal terms with paid entrants.
How many tickets can I buy?
Up to 50 tickets per person per competition, unless stated otherwise on the competition page.
Can I enter from outside the UK?
Yes. We accept entries from residents of the UK, EU, EEA, Switzerland, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other countries listed on each competition page, subject to local law.
The Skill Question
What kind of questions do you ask?
Multiple-choice questions on travel, geography, culture, transport and general knowledge. Four options, one correct answer. A typical question: “The IATA code for Dubai’s second airport in Jebel Ali is: (a) DWC (b) DBX (c) JBL (d) DUB.”
What happens if I get it wrong?
Your entry is rejected and no charge is taken. You can try a different competition or attempt this one again with a new entry.
Can I use Google or AI to answer?
No. The skill question must be answered personally, without search engines or AI assistance. Using them is grounds for disqualification. We monitor for abnormal answer patterns.
Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
Debit cards (Visa, Mastercard), credit cards (subject to a £250 per-player-per-month limit, in line with the DCMS Voluntary Code), Apple Pay and Google Pay. All payments are processed by Stripe in GBP.
Are entry fees refundable?
No. Entry fees are not refundable except where we cancel a competition or where statutory law requires a refund. Full details in our Refund Policy.
Why credit card limits?
In line with the DCMS Voluntary Code of Good Practice (November 2025), we cap credit card spend at £250 per month per player. This is a voluntary player-protection measure.
The Draw
How is the winner chosen?
On the Draw Date, all qualifying entries go into a random draw conducted by Randomdraws Ltd, a certified UK random-number generator provider. The draw produces a verifiable, auditable certificate.
Does the competition go ahead even if you don’t sell all tickets?
Yes. Every competition draws on the announced Draw Date regardless of how many tickets were sold. We never reduce the prize value or cancel for low sales.
Can I see the draw?
Yes, we stream every draw live on our Instagram (@wintheluxe). Draw certificates are available on request by emailing contact@wintheluxe.com.
If You Win
How will I know if I won?
We contact winners by email and telephone within 72 hours of the draw, using the details on your account. You have 14 days to respond and accept the prize.
What proof do I need to provide?
We ask for proof of identity, age and residence (driving licence, passport, or similar). This is standard across all UK prize competitions.
What’s included in the trip?
Each competition page lists exactly what’s included: flights, hotel, transfers, number of travellers, travel dates. What’s not included (travel insurance, visas, personal expenses) is also listed upfront.
Can I take a cash alternative?
Possibly. We offer cash alternatives at our sole discretion, typically at a value below the advertised prize. Not guaranteed but available by request.
How long do I have to take the trip?
12 months from the Draw Date, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Your Account
Can I set a spend limit?
Yes. From your account settings you can set a monthly spend limit from £0 (pause) up to our default cap of £2,000. Limit changes take effect from the next calendar day. Increases require a 24-hour cool-off and verification.
Can I take a break?
Yes. You can pause your account for 1, 7, 14 or 30 days, or self-exclude for a minimum of 6 months (extendable). During self-exclusion no entries or marketing are possible. Full details in our Responsible Play Policy.
How do I delete my account?
Email contact@wintheluxe.com with the subject line “Account deletion request”. We’ll action it within 14 days. Note that we are required by UK law to retain certain records (tax, payment, audit) for up to 6 years, as set out in our Privacy Policy.
